There are three projects built from the 5e dataset.
  • 5etools : A website to provide a means to access your content and to build custom content for use in either.
  • Plutonium & Rivet : A module for FoundryVTT, and browser extension to link the 5etools website and FoundryVTT game.
  • betteR20 : A tampermonkey script for Roll2O

Each of the projects are open source and community supported and developed.

Did you know you can run the 5etools website locally or as a part of your own website?


If you are interested in running the site offline; developing content for ; or running your own localized or personal website with the content it is availible for you to download.


Please select which method you'd like to use below.




    Minimal Install: For devices with connections to the internet. The code will run locally, but there are components (image; libraries; etc that are left on other servers). This is the smallest & best option for most.
For developers and for install on devices with poor or no internet connections. This includes npm files, tests and more. Essential for developers and not needed for most people.

Rivet {Version}


Rivet is a browser Extension that works to bridge the 5e.Tools website and your Foundry installation. (Requires Plutonium).

The better20 project builds out some new features, and adds QoL services (small performance enhancements and fixes some native Roll20 bugs).


There are two versions of betteR20; Attempting to use both at the same time will cause the game to freeze upon loading. Use one and only one at a time.

BetteR20 Basic This version does not have any 5e content within it. As such it lacks importing features and is intended for those that are not playing 5e or do not legally have the books for 5e.
